Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him the role
When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they convinced Harrison Ford to join the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and would listen to people like Ford when auditioning. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least suggest him to Ford first, thinking that he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford was brought into the project, which sparked interest from other famous actors.

Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was ecstatic nonetheless. I watched the first two episodes and found them compelling.
I also respect the way he’s presented: he’s not doing something that other therapists are supposed to be doing, and that’s pretty clear
Part of the reason is that I found there to be something real about the therapist who needs therapy and wants to reach out to his patients to unexpectedly overcome his problems. He’s not getting into the stupid situations that other shows like Loot have, but it’s still early in the series and I’ll keep watching.
The show isn’t for everyone
However, I like the depth of the characters who don’t seem like caricatures; these are people I want to get to know.
