After a traumatic incident during his residency, young medical student James Heyman (Namir Smallwood) transfers to a rural hospital for a fresh start. Observing that James is struggling and has difficulty communicating with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran stage and screen actor Michael Potts) recommends that he take a class focused on bedside manners and fostering deeper relationships with patients. The demons of James’ past begin to catch up with him when he is haunted by the case of a young asthmatic patient (Sidney Flanigan, NEVER SOMETIMES SOMETIMES) with mysterious symptoms. His grip on reality begins to slip as his disturbing nightmares, anxious speculations, and physical trauma collide with the harsh realities of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson assembles a strong ensemble of veteran actors in this humanistic and unconventional vision of the genre, following the predecessor to SAINT FRANCES – and GHOSTLIGHT.
