-After this year’s series of holiday-themed romantic movies that you can watch from the comfort of your own home
Chronology
Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family compete to win the team’s Fan of the Year competition, as judged by Director of Fan Engagement Derrick. Get Happy. The film was filmed in historic Independence Square, Missouri, in Independence, which actually looks like this all year round. The locations that were the Higman family store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are also real-life family-owned businesses.
"A Man’s Love Story" continues that trend
The square is also lit up with Christmas lights, just like in the movie. 6.7/10 (Recommended) While Hallmark movies remain cheesy and sometimes a little unrealistic in their love story possibilities, 2024 has proven to be a wonderful year for Christmas romance. I’m not a football fan and I get a little tired of hearing about the Chiefs, but honestly, this movie was amazing. It’s emotionally driven (I may have cried a few times) and the cast is great together.
She takes her role seriously
The chemistry between Hunter King and Tyler Hynes was immediately noticeable. As soon as their eyes lit up, I knew this movie was going to be good. Hunter, in particular, gives a great performance. She’s visually shocking and heartbreaking when she needs to be, which sells the point.
You don’t even have to like sports or football to understand what’s going on
Some Hallmark actresses don’t do that, which is why she stands out to me. The story is fantastic and told as if it’s a real family affair, but given the traditions and superstitions of sports families, it’s undeniable that this situation plays out in their personal lives year after year. This movie is a little different in that it focuses on families who love two people, which I think makes it more compelling. You just have to believe that love can manifest in mysterious ways, and sometimes those mysterious ways come in the form of superstition and Christmas magic.
Happy watching and enjoy the show!
