In the eternal city of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate love, oblivion and the inevitability of their past and their destiny. This is Netflix’s most expensive project made in Latin America to date, with Colombian groups and indigenous communities constructing the props and sets for the series. A pure joy to watch this cinematic Colombian marvel. The adaptation exceeded my expectations and eliminated all fears of a potentially disastrous attempt to make a decent film out of such a cold "unfilmable" novel. It seems absolutely authentic and magical in my eyes. Bravo to the Colombian creators and the Colombian team for the very careful, thoughtful and delicate adaptation of one of the most beautiful novels ever written! The cinematography is exceptional and shows the beauty of Colombia very vividly. Costumes, colonial architecture, interior design of the buildings and a carefully selected musical portrait together, an unforgettable atmosphere of Colombian magic in every detail..
