Angelina Jolie and director Pablo Laraín discuss how they connected to the heartbreaking true story of world-renowned opera singer Maria Callas
Maria Callas, the world’s greatest opera singer, lives out the final days of her life in 1970s Paris as she confronts her identity and life… The third and final film in Pablo Laraín’s so-called "Lady in Heels" trilogy of female-led biopics, following Jackie (2016) and Spencer (2021)..

It is a beautifully shot and directed film
Angelina Jolie’s great leading performance holds this film together quite well and I admire how much she put into this role, especially the operatic singing. The plot is a bit muddled and the pacing is a bit off, but I still think the film is entertaining enough to enjoy, and it is also educational about this time period and opera in general.
I love the editing and the black and white photography is gorgeous
I think it’s a solid film from Pablo Larrain with a potentially Oscar-winning performance from Angelina Jolie. No need to waste time scrolling endlessly — here’s the full lineup of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
